TLD (Top Level Domain)
This term includes all domain extensions like .es, .com, .net, .info, .org…
The current TLDs are available in the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). The TLDs are divided on ccTLDs and gTLDs:
- ccTLD (country code TLD): Every country owns a TLD (normally the country ISO code). Examples: .fr for France, .uk for United Kingdom, .de for Germany, etc…
- gTLD (generic TLD): TLD not associated with a specific country. Example: .net
