As we had anticipated we went to a seminar about the approach of the traditional enterprise on the internet celebrated In Santa Cruz de Tenerife on June 24th. We had different quality speakers from the Cámara de comercio, Camerpyme, Paypal and Domestika. They talked about the digital certificates, specially in billing, how the presence of a company on the net can translate in an increase of revenue for the company, the importance of payment methods in online business and how Paypal works and how to market your site on the net including and AdWords demo. Overall I think it was worth going to get a hint about where are the Canary Islands sitting now regarding the online business and its potential.

The red arrived in the first half of the year to the advertising sector. If you organize a podium to position the largest declines in advertising investment, the gold medal would be for the cinema industry, which is placed in first position with a fall of 43%. Followed by newspapers with a 16% decrease and television with a 4.1%. It is the largest decline of the last 15 years. Internet is the only industry who saved from the advertising crisis, growing 28% in the first six months of the year.
